The Power of Plankton
This unique trail will feature large, beautifully designed elephant sculptures scattered across these iconic locations, each one created by talented artists. The elephants will be works of art in their own right, each telling a different story while celebrating the beauty and spirit of our coastal communities.
Our elephant, The Power of Plankton, has been designed by local artist Terry Whitworth. Terry is a respected member of the Lyme Regis Arts Society, known for his vibrant and imaginative works that often reflect his deep connection to the natural world. With a keen interest in marine life, Terry’s design for our elephant showcases thousands of plankton in vivid colours, symbolising their crucial role in the health of our oceans. As residents of the coast, we are passionate about preserving our environment, and this artwork serves as a powerful reminder to protect our seas.
We’ve hidden two objects within our elephant design—objects that simply should not be in the sea. We invite you to explore The Power of Plankton and see if you can find them. Once you spot them, let us know what they are, and you’ll be entered into a competition to win a family ticket to the Weymouth Sea Life Centre!
For families, we’ve also created a downloadable colouring sheet of our The Power of Plankton design for children to enjoy and bring their own creative touch to the artwork.
